STRATEGY ORGANISATION GOVERNANCE

KarkiAssociates is a research and advisory boutique, specialising in strategy, organisation and governance.

Dr. Rajnish Karki pioneered the boutique-mode of strategy consulting in India. Since October 1995, he has advised around four-dozen medium and large organisations from a diverse array of sectors. The boutique engages with a few, high potential organisations at a time and is wholly focused on considerations at the strategic or top management level. It seeks to engender quantum improvements and build high performing, long-lasting institutions. Each engagement is led personally by Dr. Karki, supported by a purpose built team of internal and external resource persons.

KarkiAssociates has co-journeyed the evolution of many generations of Indian and global corporations, public bodies, not for profits and professional firms.
Being around for nearly three decades, from virtually the beginning of strategy consulting in the country and through its various stages, it is about the most experienced in the Indian context. The leitmotif all along has been to see the strategic situation as a whole, frame right questions and bring to bear the very best of expertise and rigour -- for evolving breakthrough constructs and harnessing linkages amongst strategy, organisation design and governance.

The advisory practice originated from Dr. Karki’s dissertation, and innovations thereupon, with respect to the strategising as a 3-stage process, ownership-momentum for change, and guiding execution. It remains rooted in research, which came together in the first world-class book on the strategic management of Indian companies “Competing with the Best”. The ongoing work at the leading edge, for instance the construct “strategic configuration”, often underpins the engagements.

KarkiAssociates has carried out quantum initiatives for organisations such as – the diversified groups’ Tatas, Mahindras, JK, JSW, Batliboi, L&T; companies’ Aptech, Great Eastern Shipping, Pantaloon, Repro, Paras, Lal Pathlabs; MNC’s Bose Corporation, Becton Dickinson, B&W Megtec, BP-Castrol; Haribhakti, other CA, law, private equity firms; not for profits’ Indian Merchant Chambers (IMC), Foundation for MSME Clusters, Dr. Reddy’s Foundation, Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA); and, governments’ and allied entities in the centre and state of Uttarakhand.

The advisory track-record compares favourably with the best of strategy consulting firms, individuals based in India or overseas.
